O desafio da vez foi fotografar uma praia à noite. A praia do Pina, em Recife, tem certa vida à noite, com gente praticando esportes, fazendo exercícios, andando, tomando coco, conversando. Mas não é iluminada, povoada e ampla como Copacabana, o que faz com que, especialmente à noite, haja um certo clima sombrio ali, que é realçado pela cor absolutamente preta no céu. Nas cenas em que não há ninguém, além de sombrio o clima também fica de uma solidão profunda. São fotos realmente tristes, no meu sentimento.
The challenge, this time, was to shoot a beach at night. Pina Beach, in Recife, does offer its nightlife, with people practicing sports and exercises, walking, drinking coconut water, chatting. However, it is not as enlightened, crowded and wide like Copacabana, creating a gloomy atmosphere in there, reinforced by the deep black color of the sky. In the scenes where there are no people, the atmosphere gains the feeling of deep loneliness. I feel they are very sad pictures!
O problema técnico foi a falta de luz. Embora eu estivesse com uma lente em f1.8 – que permite que relativamente bastante luz entre nela -, precisei deixar o ISO em 3200. Isso fez com que as fotos ganhassem um aspecto excessivamente granulado, mais do que eu esperava, mas até que ajudam a reforçar o clima das fotografias.
The technical problem was the lack of light. Despite the fact that I was using the lens at f1.8 – allowing a good amount of light to get through-, I needed to set ISO to 3200. This excessively increased noise and because of that all pictures seem a little blurry. However, maybe this can convey the message I was expecting – darkness, loneliness, sadness…
